Online Schools

From year-round enrollment to early graduation options, online schools offer many benefits.

No matter what is happening in the world, online schools provide an uninterrupted learning environment that’s all-inclusive and caters to a wide range of student interests. Students will need to be self-motivated to succeed in online education, but those who are can enjoy an education supported by teaching staff and counselors.

Public schools can be noisy, hard to access and present many social barriers for disabled students. Online schooling allows students with disabilities to learn in a safe, comfortable environment with the space and time needed to support them in meeting their full potential.

Online schools available in the Triad area include Penn Foster Academy, NC Cyber Academy, NC Virtual Academy and Coastal Prep Academy.

Homeschooling

With parents increasingly concerned about safety in public schools, homeschooling guarantees a safe learning environment free from peer pressure and meets the unique needs of students.

As the name suggests, homeschooling happens at home, with parents usually taking responsibility for teaching. This allows greater control over what is taught, how it is taught and the pace at which it is taught. Learning fits around family life and considers sickness, travel and health issues.

Socialization can be a concern for parents when considering homeschooling. However, support groups, extra-curricular visits and sports and music events at local public schools offer excellent opportunities for homeschooled students to develop socially and emotionally.

Private Schools

High academic standards, small class sizes and a focus on critical thinking and collaboration skills make private schools a desirable alternative to public schools.

Once enrolled, students benefit from small class numbers, which allow teaching to be personalized to each student, leading to high academic achievement. Small class sizes also enable teachers to build a strong relationship with each student, motivating and encouraging them to reach their full potential. As a result, private school students achieve high academic results and are widely accepted into top universities and colleges.

Private schools in the Triad area include Lionheart Academy of the Triad, New Garden Friends School, High Point Friends School, Greensboro Day School, and others.

Charter Schools

Despite being public schools, charter schools are free from state or local regulations and have higher accountability levels than standard public schools. They make an excellent choice for parents who might need more financial means to send their child to a private school because there are little to no direct fees charged to parents.

Like private schools, charter school students score highly on tests, leading to high admission rates to top universities and colleges. This is thanks to using a range of innovative teaching methods that embrace individual student needs and help them learn in a personalized way.

Charter schools specialize in a variety of areas. Some focus on college prep, whilst others may emphasize fine arts. Parents considering sending their child to a charter school should research which school’s specialization would suit their child best.

Charter schools in the Triad area include NC Learning Academy, Arts Based School, Phoenix Academy, The Piedmont School, and others.
